5.3.5 Load Sector Layout Map

Level of expertise required for this Chapter: Intermediate; specifically for LUPMIS @ TCPD

Sector layout maps are a standard output of TCPD offices. They are drawn at the scale of 1:2,500 and approved by the District Assembly as the main spatial, legal planning document.

1. Have the sector layout scanned in JPG format (100 dpi)

2. Resize it to a smaller size for easier handling (less burden on the memory). Also, rename it (e.g. Gomoa_Nyanyano_1.jpg)

- - - - -

3. With a graphics program (e.g. Paint Shop Pro):
- 3.1 Resize it again to a size of some 3000-3500 pixels width,
- 3.2 Clean any unnecessary information (dirt, grid lines, xy numbers, scanned dirt, etc)
- 3.3 Cut the marginalia (edge of the map with text),
- 3.4 Save it under a new file name (e.g. Gomoa_Nyanyano_1 cut.jpg).

4. In Map Maker, georectify it:
Main menu > Utilities > Bitmap utilities > Calibrate scan > Multiple points (or Two known points). For the process see Chapter 5.3.3.

5. You can then download this georeferenced sector layout in Map Maker.

6. Check with other features for horizontal accuracy.
