2.15 Define Unit Surrounding Islands

If smaller units have been digitized and then a surrounding, larger unit around these smaller islands will convert them to islands, a different procedure has to be chosen: The
Subtract island action after digitizing the larger unit.

For example: Following small units have been digitized previously, which are to be surrounded by a larger unit:



The larger unit is to be digitized as a ‘normal’ polygon, therefore right-click > Action >
‘Subtract island’:



Do not forget to assign a value (for example, to the style) with the
Edit-tool from the toolbar left:
