6.6.5 Remarks to Large Size Prints
Level of expertise required for this Chapter: Intermediate; specifically for LUPMIS @ TCPD
For all prints, which are not just working copies, it is strongly recommended to use map templates for professional placing of all map furniture, such as legend, frame etc: See Chapter 6.5.
If you print A4 or A3 sizes, your print will look very similar to the display: No need to adjust font sizes etc.
If you are not using map templates and want to print on larger sizes (A2-A0), you have to adjust sizes of styles and fonts, as explained below. Consider the different concept of a large size map, either for presentation to an audience (with large fonts) or as a working map covering a larger area (like most topographic maps).

Advanced users can use the option ‘meters on the ground’ rather than ‘mms on paper’ when working with style definitions.
Alternatively:
- Style: Size of points: All points (‘symbols’) might have to be increased by 2-4 times: Project manager window: Project style set > Style edit > Symbol > Select the number of style at right side > Size
- Style: Size of text: All text (‘labels’) might have to be increased by 2-4 times: Project manager window: Project style set > Style edit > Label > Select the number of style at right side > height
- Style: Width of lines: Thick lines (> 0.1) might have to be increased by 2-4 times: Project manager window: Project style set > Style edit > Line > Select the number of style at right side > Line width

Also, you have to adjust the 'map furniture':
- Legend: Size of fonts of legend has to be increased by 2-4 times: Project manager window: Project legend > Caption font > height.
- Increase legend box, if necessary
- Size of remark 'LUPMIS @ TCPD': A2: 24 – A1/A0: 30, with increased L
- Size of TCPD logo: Enlarge
- Size of north arrow: Enlarge

Alternatively for the legend, you might better save your legend in an EMF file (see Chapter 6.4.1), and then display it as 'map furniture' (see Chapter 6.4.2).

If the plotter shows an error message 'Out of data' or 'Out of memory', or the map is plotted incomplete, it is recommended to increase the memory of the plotter.
If this is not feasible easily, you better reduce the size to half (for example, instead of A0, you print A1) and then stick the two sheets together by masking tape.
