5.2.4 Import Vector Map from Latitude / Longitude

Level of expertise required for this Chapter: Intermediate

If a vector map is still in latitude / longitude, i.e. un-projected, you have to convert it to the UTM system:

Main menu > Utilities > Latitude and Longitude utilities > WGS84 Lat/Long to XY > Vector > Choose target XY map projection window: UTM 30 (if UTM 30 is not listed, you have to configure, see Annex 1.1.7) > OK > Select folder and file > Open > Select folder > Specify new file name (preferably with _utm at the end) > Save

The converted file can now be displayed at Map Maker, and processed together with the other layers in the UTM system.

Note: If you have a database attached and save the re-projected DRA file under a new file name, you have to re-sample the database (DBF file) to the ‘new’ DRA file:
In the Project manager: Add layer > Select the ‘new’ DRA file > Open > Data link > Choose database > Select the ‘old’ DBF file > Open > Copy layer to live layer > OK
In live layer: Right-mouse > Save live layer as… > Select the ‘new’ DRA file >>>
